PAGE ORGANIZATION:

Both Homebrew and Homebrew Label Artwork entries maybe registered via this website.
- The first part, of this page, details HOMEBREW rules.
- The next section details  HOMEBREW LABEL ARTWORK rules.


HOMEBREW ENTRY REGISTRATION:             

  1. All homebrew entries must be pre-registered with fees paid via either:
    Online Entry by noon Saturday April 22 or
    Paper entries received by Monday Monday April 17 at the Alameda County Fair Exhibits Office.

 

HOMEBREW DELIVERY:

  • Bottles with labels may be shipped or hand-delivered to More Beer San Leandro by the end of business Thursday April 20.
  • Bottles with labels MUST BE hand-delivered to all other locations (therefore  not shipped) by an hour before their end of business Thursday April 20.
  • Bottles with labels maybe dropped off to the fairgrounds only on Saturday April 22, from 10am until noon.

    No entries will be accepted after 12:00pm noon Saturday April 22.

HOMEBREW LIMITATIONS:

  1. This competition is open to all homebrewers over 21 years of age on Saturday April 22, 2017.
  2. Each exhibitor is limited to one entry per BJCP subcategory.
  3. Fair Management and/or competition organizer may consolidate classes into suitable flights, if warranted, due to low number of entries in a class (ie. BJCP category).

 

HOMEBREW JUDGING:   

  1. The Homebrew competition uses the American system of judging.
    This judging ranks beers against one another and awards one first place, one second place, and one third place entry in each flight.
  2. Judges will use the "2015 BJCP Style Guidelines" available at www.bjcp.org
  3. Judges will be experienced and BJCP ranked.
  4. Judges’ decision is final. 
  5. Judging will be closed to exhibitors.
  6. Results will not be given by phone.

 

HOMEBREW DISPLAY: 

  1. Homebrew entries will be displayed in the Agriculture Building for the duration of the Fair.
    The 2017 fair starts June 16 and ends July 9.

 

 


 

HOMEBREW LABEL ARTWORK RULES FOLLOW

 

HOMEBREW LABEL ARTWORK ENTRY REGISTRATION:

  1. All homebrew entries must be pre-registered via either:
    - Online Entry by noon Saturday April 22 at www.beercomps.org/babo or
    - Paper entries received by Monday Monday April 17 at the Alameda County Fair Exhibits Office.
  2. Homebrew Label Artwork entries are FREE of charge.
    Any Homebrew Label Artwork entries registered on this site will automatically show PAID.

 

HOMEBREW LABEL ARTWORK LIMITATIONS:

  1. Only 3 HOMEBREW LABEL DESIGNS per class will be accepted from one participant.

  

HOMEBREW LABEL ARTWORK JUDGING:

  1. Homebrew label designs must reflect good taste.
  2. Judging criteria will be based on an exhibitor’s creativity and originality.
  3. Judges will be looking for an “attention grabber” that elicits further investigation based on use of color, design and composition.
  4. Judges will be beer aficionados, most likely experienced and BJCP ranked judges.
  5. Judges’ decision is final. Judging will be closed to exhibitors. 
  6. Results will not be given by phone.

 

HOMEBREW LABEL ARTWORK DISPLAY:

  1. HOMEBREW LABELS will be displayed in the Agriculture Building for the duration of the Fair.

HOMEBREW LABEL ARTWORK AWARDS:

  1. Special rosettes awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each class.
