Bottle Acceptance Rules

HOMEBREW BOTTLE DELIVERY:

  1. Each exhibitor must submit a minimum of THREE clean, unmarked bottles, which are free of any identifying markings, in 12 oz bottles only.
Due to the inconvenience of handling, no other bottles will be accepted.
NIP bottles (6oz-8oz) will be accepted in the strong ale, mead and barley wine categories.
  2. Each bottle must have a label attached including entrant name, division, class (spelled out), and fair assigned entry number.  Please secure a label to each bottle with rubber bands.
Printing computer generated labels, from this site, is preferred.
  3. Special attention should be given to the category and style designations so that your brew will be entered and judged according to the proper style.
  4. PLEASE review the 2015 BJCP style guidelines at www.BJCP.org.
  5. Special attention should be given to any Entry Instructions noted in the category and subcategory so your brew will be entered and judged according to the proper style.
  6. Each entry qualifies for the homebrew label design competition.
  7. Homebrew Label Design entries should be registered on this site as well.
  8. The competition organizer reserves the right to disqualify any entries not meeting the above guidelines or to consolidate classes, if warranted, due to low number of entries in a class.
  9. Entries become the property of the Alameda County Fair and will not be returned.
  10. Please clearly mark the outside of the 6-pack carrier, box or bag that contain your entries indicating 'BABO2017'.
This way drop-off personnel can easily identify entries meant for this competition.
Along with writing 'BABO2017' on the outside of the 6-pack carrier, box or bag, you could staple, tape or glue one of the computer generated labels.

Packing and Shipping

Carefully pack your entries in a sturdy box. Line the inside of your carton with a plastic trash bag. Partition and pack each bottle with adequate packaging material. Please do not over pack!

Write clearly: "Fragile. This Side Up." on the package. Please refrain from using "messy" packaging materials such a Styrofoam "peanuts" or pellets; please use packaging material such as bubble wrap.

Every reasonable effort will be made to contact entrants whose bottles have broken to make arrangements for sending replacement bottles.

If you live in the United States, please note that it is illegal to ship your entries via the United States Postal Service (USPS). Private shipping companies have the right to refuse your shipment if they are informed that the package contains glass and/or alcoholic beverages. Be aware that entries mailed internationally are often required by customs to have proper documentation. These entries might be opened and/or returned to the shipper by customs' officials at their discretion. It is solely the entrant's responsibility to follow all applicable laws and regulations.
